Salisbury Facing Another Season Missed

The reformed Salisbury FC may not compete in the 2015/16 season after being locked out of their planned ground.

The local press reports that the group that bought assets from the Administrator have been told they will have to pay a market rent for the stadium rather than the discounted deal afforded to the previous club - and have been refused access to the ground where they own two of the stands, the floodlights, and scoreboard along with other assets.

They have also been told by the Trustees of the Raymond McEnhill Stadium that any decision on a new lease will not come before Spring starts in more than a months time, with the trustees saying they are 'legally bound' to take professional advice.

A statement from Salisbury FC to the press adds: “We accept that the lease has been forfeited after what happened to the old club, and that the trustees may not have had a good experience of football with the previous club, but we are new people with new attitudes.

"We have submitted a basic but sustainable business plan to the trustees several months ago as requested."

The Trustees responded: “Trustees are awaiting professional advice and have been told that this could take some time. It is entirely possible that the trustees may decide not to grant a lease of the stadium.

“However, were they to decide to grant a lease, any such lease would have to be on commercial terms (at a market rent) and would require the stadium to be put (and kept) in good repair.”
