Former Hereford United defender Michael Townsend has decided to retire from football.
The 28 year old took the decision after talking to specialists. Recently he has been playing for Tamworth
Townsend, who captained the Bulls, suffers from a back problem, said to be caused by a 'bulging disc'.
"I sat down with the gaffer (Andy Morrell) and the chairman, Bob Andrews, and we have sorted something out. It's been amicable.
"I have thought about this for a while. I have always been determined and strong.
"But, having talked to the specialists, it feels that the time is now. I don't want to sit on the injury table anymore, there's only so much you can take."
