Bulls News has been given permission to publish the following email, from MP Jesse Norman, sent yesterday afternoon to Southern League chairman Ken Turner and secretary Jason Mills:
Dear Mr Turner and Mr Mills
RE: HEREFORD UNITED FC
As you may be aware, Hereford United FC is now 57% owned by Mr Tommy Agombar.
Many fans have expressed their serious concern to me as their Member
of Parliament that Mr Agombar, who I understand has a criminal record,
is not a fit and proper person to own a football club. In discussions
with me, the Football Association have made clear that no club can
join a league unless its owner or owners and other relevant people
have passed the FA's Owners and Directors test.
Having been a director, Mr Agombar now appears to have stepped down
from the board of the club.
I understand the Southern League is holding its AGM this Saturday.
The purpose of this letter is to request:
1. That you yourselves give close scrutiny to Mr Agombar's
suitability as majority owner of Hereford United, and/or as "officer"
for reporting purposes, in addition to following the FA's own process
for this;
2. That if another person is put forward to you as having passed
the FA's Owners and Directors test, you make sure to require that Mr
Agombar himself passes the test;
3. That you confirm that you will delay acceptance of the club
into the Southern League pending this determination, as required by FA
rules;
4. And that at all times you will ensure that the Southern
League acts as properly and transparently as possible during this
process.
I and many other fans will be following the situation here very
closely. With thanks in advance for your consideration,
Yours sincerely,
Jesse Norman
Member of Parliament
