News Round-Up


The appeal by the owner of Oxford's Kassam Stadium to list it as an Asset of Community Value has failed. Firoz Kassam claimed the listing breached his human rights, while the application was also technically flawed. Both claims were rejected by the appeals hearing. Grimsby are 'suffocating' at Blundell Park, and the club wants a new stadium with a 14,000 capacity according to club majority owner John Fenty.

Kidderminster are to appeal against the red card handed to midfielder James Dance during Tuesday's win over Forest Green. The former Luton man was one of three players sent off during the match. Former Bulls forwards Jake Harris and Tristan Plummer have been named in a FA XI squad to face the Devon FA. The pair have been selected by their Weston Super Mare manager Craig Laird, who is managing the side under the guidance of Paul Fairclough.

Morecambe manager Jim Bentley has signed a two year extension to his current deal. The former defender has been in the job for two years, and spent more than 10 years with the Shrimps. Barnet have signed striker Dani Lopez on loan from Stevenage. The 27 year old netted four times in five games for the Bees on loan last term.

Alfreton boss Nicky Law says he has just 13 available players for Saturday's trip to Gateshead. Defenders Michael Wylde and Dan Wishart picked up injuries in midweek, with Nick Fenton suspended and Chris Westwood already injured. Grimsby have extended the contract of midfielder Ritchie Jones until January. The former Man Utd trainee had signed a month long deal last month.

Gateshead have signed Middlesborough full back Lewis Sirrell on loan as injury cover. The 20 year old can play anywhere down the left side, but is yet to make his first team debut. Torquay have announced they are making three staff redundant, including the Club Secretary, in a bid to cut costs. The Gulls saw manager Alan Knill return a loan player to save money earlier in the week.
