Former Hereford United defender Anwar Uddin is to take up a youth coaching post at West Ham where he started his career.
Uddin currently plays football with Conference South side Eastbourne Borough but has been considering his future in the game.
The 31 year old was the first player of Bangladshi heritage to play at a professional level in the UK.
"I was contemplating stopping playing and throughout my career I've
done all my coaching badges because I used to finish training at 1
o'clock and I didn't want to play the Xbox all day," Uddin told Sky Sports.
"Tony Carr (of West Ham) got in touch with me and said if you're thinking about stopping and want to coach, you're not going anywhere but here."
Uddin made nine appearances for the Bulls in the 2003/04 season. He arrived at Edgar Street on loan from Bristol Rovers on December 12th 2003 and stayed for two months.
"I played ten games for them and throughly enjoyed it," said Uddin after his loan spell at Edgar Street ended.
"I didn't know much about the Conference before I went there, but I was impressed and it's a good standard.
"The training was good because Hereford are full-time. It'a good club and I'm glad I went.
