Longstanding Bulls fans will recall Nuneaton Borough from
many decades ago in The Southern League.
Their history goes back 1889 when Nuneaton St Nicholas were formed. They have gone through several name changes
and financial crisis before their liquidation in 2008 bringing relegation to
the Southern League Division 1 Midlands.
Since then they have made great strides arriving in the Conference
National last season.
Their present home is the Sperrin Brewery Stadium, which has
a capacity of 4500 of which just over 500 is seated. Visiting fans, if segregated, are accommodated in the Stuart
Plumbing Stand, which is a covered terrace with room for 1000 spectators. Admission is believed to be £12 for adults
and £3 for U16’s. A £2 premium is
payable inside the stadium for seats (if available) in the Main Stand.
HUISA – Depart from Radford’s at 4.30pm. Fare £13 (non-members £15). Seats can be booked through The Club office
on 08442 761939.
BY CAR – To Worcester then join the M5 (North) at J7. Continue to join the M42 at J4A. Follow the M42 to J7A where you leave to
join the M6 south (sign Coventry, London).
Leave the M6 at J3 and at the roundabout take the 1st exit
onto the A444 (sign Nuneaton). Cross
four roundabout following A444 and at the fifth roundabout take the second exit
onto the A4254, Avenue Road (sign Hinckley).
Continue on the A4254 taking the 2nd exit at the next
roundabout (Garrett Street) and the first exit at the next (Eastboro Way) all
following the A4254. At the next
roundabout, take the first exit onto Townsend Drive (sign Attleborough
Industrial Estate) then right into Liberty Drive. Distance is about 82 miles and you should allow at least two
hours given the M42 rush hour traffic.
PARKING – There is parking at the ground at £2 per car otherwise
street parking in the surrounding Industrial Estate.
TRAIN – Change at Birmingham New Street. Nuneaton Station is a little less than 1.5
miles from the ground (upwards of 30 minutes walk).
REFRESHMENTS – Access to the NTFC Supporters Club is inside
the ground and may not be an option if the game is segregated. The Nuneaton Rugby Club bar in the car park
welcomes visiting fans. The Crows Nest
and The Acorn are both a ten-minute walk from the ground. For those with more time to explore, The
Crown by the railway station appears to be worth a look. The local ‘Spoons is
the Felix Holt on Stratford Street in the centre of the town.
CHIPS – The only ones I can find are in the town
centre. Wales Fish and Chips in Bond
Street in near the railway station and Toppers Fish Shop in Stratford Street.
