The Bulls face Barrow in a Conference clash at Edgar Street on Saturday.
The two sides have rarely met, but the Bulls are not on the Bluebirds' Christmas card list after the events of 1972. Barrow fans still cry foul over what they perceived as a move to oust one of the furthest outposts of the Football League. On the pitch, the Bluebirds haven't scored against the Bulls in three previous Conference games with the 2-0 win at Holker Street earlier in the season, thanks to goals from Josh O'Keefe and Ryan Bowman, following up 1-0 and 3-0 wins in the 1998/99 season.
Bulls boss Martin Foyle has an eye on next season with a number of trialists trying to prove their worth in recent weeks. Foyle may yet have to spring a surprise signing or two with just 14 players training yesterday and the transfer window closing next Thursday. With barely a month of their contracts remaining, a few of the fringe players that Foyle has signed will be keen to also prove their worth for next season.
Barrow chief Dave Bayliss blamed poor decision making by his forward line for their 2-0 loss to Stockport on Tuesday night. The Bluebirds slipped back into the bottom four with that result after home wins had pulled them out of immediate danger. They have failed to win in five games on the road since back-to-back wins at Gateshead and Newport at the start of the year, and have been hit for five, six, and eight goals in their last eight trips.
