News Round-Up


Stockport have placed assistant manager Alan Lord in caretaker charge of the first team following Jim Gannon's sacking. Fans have been highly critical of the dismissal of the hugely popular Irishman despite their lowly league position, with several calling for a boycott until he is reinstated. Conf South side Dorchester are the latest side to become Supporters Trust owned after club chairman Shaun Hearn agreed to hand over his majority shareholding to their Trust.

Barrow have missed out on signing Stockport defender Danny O'Donnell after he opted to remain with the Hatters in the wake of Jim Gannon's sacking and fight for his first team place. Luton striker Dan Walker has joined Braintree on a months loan. The 22 year old has made five sub appearances in the Conference this season, and spent part of last term on loan at Southport.

Newport are reported to have failed in a bid for released Northampton defender Anthony Charles, with the player opting to join Plymouth instead. Tamworth are trialling Rochdale defender Neill Byrne with a view to a loan move. The former Nottm Forest trainee had a loan at Barrow earlier in the season.

Mansfield have allowed midfielder Gary Roberts to join Maltese side FC Floriana on loan for the remainder of the season. They are the team that has former Chester chairman Stephen Vaughan involved. Barrow have signed Fleetwood striker Danny L Rowe on loan for the rest of the season. The 22 year old scored once in 15 games for Stockport on loan during the first half of the season.

Alfreton have beaten Telford to sign Grimsby winger Louie Soares on loan for the remainder of the season. The 28 year old had a spell on loan at Ebbsfleet before Christmas before being recalled. Macclesfield have missed out on the signing of former loan striker Chris Holroyd with the released Preston man opting to join Morecambe on a deal to the end of the season instead.
