Preview: Tamworth vs Bulls

The Bulls travel East on Tuesday night to face Tamworth in the first away game of the season.

The two sides met across three Conference seasons that saw the Bulls finish in three consecutive second places, losing only one of the six games with the Lambs. Memorable to Bulls fans would be the first encounter, on a scorching hot August Saturday nine years ago, with Ryan Green bouncing a 40-yarder off the crossbar and the Bulls winning 3-1 with Ben Smith grabbing a double.

The Lambs opened their season with a 3-2 win at newly promoted Dartford with goals from former Dagenham striker Adam Cunnington and former Fleetwood winger Peter Till, with Dartford boss Tony Burman blaming all three goals on individual errors. Former Bulls defender Sam Oji, an occasional feature of the disasterous League One campaign, conceded the free kick from which the Lambs conceded one of the two goals. Midfielder Marcus Kelly is likely to be a doubt after lasting just 16 minutes of his debut for the club.

The Bulls go on their travels looking to continue their good start of the season. Striker Ryan Bowman is to miss out again through injury, but it appears there was no further injury problems other than tiredness following Friday's win over Macclesfield. Fans were highly impressed with Marlon Jackson's performance, while Marley Watkins also had a lot of praise following his work on the wing, but the whole defence also put in a sterling shift to provide a strong foundation to the side.

Tamworth vs Hereford United, The Lamb, Tuesday 14th August, 7.45pm.
