Newport have released the following statement:
It is with great regret that after consultation with all parties
concerned, we are unable to offer an increase in the allocation for away
supporters for the Hereford United Match on Tuesday 28th August 2012.
The official capacity for association football matches at Rodney Parade has been confirmed in the safety certificate as 5511.
Due to the configuration of the stadium, and despite the best efforts
of everyone involved, it has proved impossible to amend the segregation
lines for Tuesday’s match. We will look to address this moving forward.
We would to thank Hereford United for their understanding in this
matter and offer our apologies to the Hereford United fans that will
miss out on the opportunity of watching this fixture.
It is unclear quite why, in a stadium that has a capacity widely reported to be over 11,000, less than half of it is available to be used when football is being played.
