News Round-Up

Port Vale's players are in limbo after refusing to sign updated contracts with the club. The group had been signed to week-to-week deals by the Administrator but boss Micky Adams wanted more security within his squad. However the offer of deals equal to the length of contract agreed with the club has been temporarily rebuffed while the players seek clarification from the PFA as to whether the contracts can be enforced onto any new club owner.

Barrow have signed Stockport's Danny Rowe on a short term deal until January. The 20 year old was released by the Hatters earlier in the week in order to seek more first team football. Alfreton have signed giant striker Tom Denton following his release from Huddersfield. The 6ft 7in 23 year old cost the Terriers £60,000 from Wakefield in 2008 but never played for the first team, making his League debut on loan for Cheltenham at Edgar Street.

There is yet to be any news out of Truro City with the deadline to pay players wages set for 10am today. Owner Kevin Heaney has been uncontactable while the club's Chief Executive is on holiday. New Lincoln director Chris Moyses is reported to have put £75,000 into the club to become a director. The money is expected to help cover the shortfall in income after their moneyspinning friendly with Leicester was cancelled and the stadium naming rights sale produced only half the planned figure.

Dartford are mulling over whether to hand a deal to trialist Harry Crawford. The former Southend man has expressed a preference to stay full time. Ebbsfleet boss Liam Daish is considering short term deals for four trialists currently at the club. The long serving boss currently only has 15 players at his disposal for Saturday's opening game with Nuneaton.

Bradford have made a bid to take over the Bradford Bulls rugby league side. Their bid is reported to be the only one on the table with no conditions attached, and is for the highest amount after a consortium of local businessmen had their offer rejected due to the conditions they attached to it. Nuneaton have released forward Lee Moore from his contract, with the former Tamworth man reported to be training with Kidderminster.

Southport have signed striker Darren Stephenson from Bradford on a one year deal. The 20 year old came through the Bantams youth side and has had a number of loan spells in the Evo-Stik league before being told he could leave midway through a two year deal this summer.
