Hereford United chairman David Keyte has suggested that he thinks his squad will be able to challenge for promotion despite the financial constraints on manager Martin Foyle.
"We have had to pay for too many players through the months of May, June and July with very little income," Keyte told BBC Hereford and Worcester.
"But we're here and the first match was televised so it's amazing how the pendulum swings back and forth.
"We've deliberately pegged back the budget quite substantially and you just need to feel the management can get more out of the pennies than previously.
"I do sense we've got a crop of young, ambitious players who are gelling very quickly as a unit.
"Now they have to do that on the pitch."
