News Round-Up

No Bulls in the Team of the Week. Port Vale and Bristol Rovers each have two players nominated in the XI. Kettering chairman Imraan Ladak admitted in an interview with the BBC Non-League show last night that he was, and still is, a shareholder in the company that the club are in dispute with over a sponsorship agreement. Ladak was on the company's board when the deal was struck, but claims he had no involvement in the deal from that end, while his brother remains on their board.

Hartlepool chairman Ken Hodcroft has told the BBC that local rivals Darlington should be allowed to go bust. His comments have met with an angry response, but the Pools themselves have offered to play a fundraising friendly with the Quakers. Lincoln chairman Bob Dorrian says the club may need to leave Sincil Bank in order to become self-sufficient. He says the stadium has insufficient off-field income to make the club competitive on current gates.

Burton have opened negotiations over longer deals for loanee Tom Parkes and midfielder Andres Gurrieri. The Brewers are paying Parkes' full wages from Leicester but want to negotiate a lower rate, while Gurrieri's agent is looking for a larger wage for his player after part-funding the Argentinian's move to the UK. Cheltenham trialist Matthew Barnes-Homer is a target for Mansfield, the club's boss has confirmed.

Morecambe have signed Altrincham striker Jack Redshaw on an 18 month deal after impressing during a trial. The 21 year old started his career with Man City before signing for the Conf North side. Two former Port Vale directors have pledged to back the supporters' efforts to remove the current board. Mike Thompstone and Dave Smith were both original members of the Valiant 2001 consortium that took over the club in 2003.

Plymouth have released striker Rory Patterson by mutual consent. The 27 year old spent the last couple of months on loan at Linfield, but has now signed a permanent deal with Derry City. Macclesfield have failed in an appeal over a red card handed to Nat Brown at the weekend. The defender will now miss three games starting with tonight's match with Wimbledon.

Cheltenham have released midfielder David Bird by mutual consent. The 27 year old was in his tenth year with the club and is their record appearance holder for Football League games. Port Vale are trialling Droylesden midfielder Paul Marshall and former Leicester striker Tommy Wright. Marshall, 22, previously had a loan at Vale Park two years ago, while veteran Wright has had spells at Kidderminster and Luton this term.
