Coleman Departure Confirmed

Rochdale have called a 2pm press conference to unveil Accrington boss John Coleman as their new manager.

The 49 year old has been manager since 1999 when the club were in the Northern Premier League Division One, then the seventh tier of the football pyramid. He matched or improved the club's league position in every one of his twelve full seasons in charge, culminating in reaching the League Two play-offs last term.

Coleman departs, along with assistant boss Jimmy Bell, after the two clubs agreed a compensation package. At Rochdale he will manage former Accrington player Brett Ormerod. The veteran striker left Stanley before Coleman's arrival, but the sell-on clause from his 2001 transfer from Blackpool to Southampton funded the club's drive up the Leagues.

Accrington have put midfielder Leam Richardson in temporary charge at the Crown Ground, saying they will not rush to make an appointment.
