John Layton is Hereford born and followed in his late father's footsteps by joining Hereford United as a player. During his career at Edgar Street he made 200 appearances as The Bulls climbed to the old Division 2 (now Championship). After hanging up his boots, John turned to coaching and managed at Edgar Street prior to Graham Turner's arrival. Later, John went on to coach the Pakistan national side as well as holding positions in New Zealand, and The Maldives. John holds a UEFA "A" License and celebrates his 60th birthday today.
Barry Silkman joined Hereford United from Barnet as a typical seventies curly-haired (permed?) winger in 1974. He spent a couple of seasons at The Street before spells at Palace, Plymouth, Man City, QPR and a host of others before eventually becoming a players agent with his own management company. Agent Silkman is 59 today.
