Morecambe have sacked manager Sammy McIlroy and assistant Mark Lillis. The former Manchester United player first tasted managerial success at Macclesfield where he took the Cheshire Club into the Football League.
McIlroy joined Morecame and became assistant to Jim Harvey before taking full control following Harvey's illness. Morecambe finished the 10/11 season in twentieth spot despite the boost of moving the the new Globe Arena.
The bookies have installed current player coach Jim Bentley as 5/2 favourite to be the next boss. Jimmy Harvey is a 16/1 shot, while the bookies also cheekily list former Bulls loanee Tony Capaldi as a 20/1 shot. Capaldi left Morecambe under a cloud after fans accused him of insulting the club on Twitter.
