Micky Adams has signed a three year deal to manage Port Vale.
Adams left the club last January and took over at Sheffield United.
"I always said that Sheffield United would be the only club to tempt me away from Vale and ultimately, I let my heart rule my head," Adams told Vale's official website.
"I have followed Vale's fortunes closely since I left in January and no-one is more disappointed than me that the club did not achieve promotion this season."
Meanwhile Morecambe have appointed Jim Bentley as their new manager. He takes over from Sammy McIlroy.
34 year old Bentley has made 329 appearances for Morecambe.
"I love the place and I've enjoyed my time here as a player,2 he told BBC Sport.
"I've coached the reserves and that's been a decent transitional period for me of having a coaching role while still playing."
Finally Barnet have appointed Lawrie Sanchez as their new manager.
