Accrington Stanley will have to do without Ray Putterill next Saturday at Hereford United after the FA found them guilty of playing him in a Paint Trophy match last August.
Putterill was suspended at the time but he played in the tie against Tranmere.
Later, after finding out about his suspension, which happened at a previous club, Accrington withdrew from the Trophy competition.
At an FA hearing, Stanley were fined £2,000 and Putterill was given a two-match ban ruling him out of Saturday’s trip to Edgar Street.
