Much has Changed in 14 Days

Go back 14 days. Hereford United were already close to Barnet having set out from Edgar Street the previous day and trained on route at Watford.

Whilst the weather was bright in Herefordshire it was cold and cloudy in Hertfordshire.

And at Underhill, as 3pm approached, the Bulls came onto the pitch in what was to be a crunch match for them and their manager Simon Davey.

The afternoon didn't go well. The Bees defeated the Bulls 2-0 and every Hereford United supporter knew that Davey and his side-kick Andy Fensome had been in charge for the last time.

The following Monday it was official. Chairman David Keyte and his board had taken the only realistic decision and put Jamie Pitman in temporary charge.

The day after a Paint Trophy tie against Exeter. Another defeat, this time 3-0. But there were signs that the team had remembered that they could play some good football.

Then last Saturday. In truth no-one gave the Bulls too much hope against league leaders Port Vale. However this was the best performance of the season to date. Even more remarkable was that for much of the game the Bulls were down to ten men. And they missed a penalty.

This afternoon the Bulls are at Northampton with Pitman in charge for his second League game. Whilst he will be without Sean Canham, who is the Bulls top scorer to date with two goals, he should have both Stuart Fleetwood and Janos Kovacs available even if they start on the bench.

With confidence at its highest so far this season and Pitman, aided by goalkeeping coach Russell Hoult, hoping to stake a claim for the managers job on a permanent basis, there's little doubt an exciting match is in prospect.

And, perhaps with a little luck, three points.

14 days ago there was no likelyhood of a win at Barnet, this morning there are grounds for optimism at Northampton later today.

As ever supporters unable to back the Bulls in person can keep up with events by either tuning into BBC Hereford and Worcester on 94.7FM or Bulls Player.
