It's what Following the Bulls is all about

One of the joys of watching Hereford United is that just now and again you go to a game that will remain with you for a long time.

Today was one of those games.

Before the game, news of the signing of a young goalkeeper, Steve Guinan being very coy when talking to Tim Russon with a few supporters and a good following of the Hereford United faithfull taking their place in the away end.

Guinan looking for inspiration?

And, of course, Jamie Pitman's third game in charge.

By half-time one wondered why one had bothered, 3-0 down and it didn't look good. To top it all Lindley Catering had run out of pies (on reflection probably a good thing after the problems at Bury). The only positive was that Mathieu Manset had come on to replace Dominik Werling. On the downside he was playing on the left of midfield and to little effect.

What Pitman told the team in the break we might never know but they started the second half a gear or so higher than earlier.

But perhaps the turning point was the introduction of Stuart Fleetwood on 55 minutes. Four minutes later he scored.

Twelve minutes later he scored again.

Now there was hope and the supporters sensed it was time for that particular chant.

'Three Nil and you ****** it up'

Two minutes later McQuilken levelled the score. Most fans went estatic.

Some thought they were dreaming. One or two worried that as Guinan, the former Hereford United striker, had come on for the Cobblers he would no doubt score against his former club. In truth he wasn't much of a threat.

Then on 78 minutes Mathieu Manset put the Bulls ahead. Some Cobblers fans vented their disgust and started to leave.

'We can see you going out'

With 5 minutes of extra time, the last 17 minutes seemed for ever. But worthwhile.

After all when did Hereford United last win a game 4-3 after being 3-0 down. Ron Parrot and Richard Prime might know, most of the rest of us don't and probably, at present, couldn't care.
