News Round Up

Accrington have tried to blame the Football League for fielding an ineligible player in the Johnstone Paint Trophy. They submitted a side to the FL containing eight changes from their previous League match which was rejected, and banned player Ray Putterill was only included in the XI after that. Port Vale midfielder Gary Roberts is the first League Two player to be banned for five yellow cards this season after being booked in five of the six League matches so far.

The net appears to be closing on the players in the Notts County/Munto Finance scenario. Russell King, who represented the mysterious company during the club's takeover, has been told he cannot leave Bahrain over a £2million debt currently being chased through the Jersey courts. The FA are investigating illegal payments to players of St Albans City. The NLP says the club have been avoiding tax on some players wages for a year.

Altrincham's chairman and major backer Geoff Goodwin has quit the club due to mounting work pressure. The sponsorship deal for the club from his coach company will continue until the end of the season at least. Mansfield's board have told the press the club is losing £10,000 a week, but they don't have a specific asking price for the club.

Lincoln forward Andy Hutchinson has been ruled out for two months after breaking a bone in his foot.
