News Round Up

Ex-Bull Gavin Williams has rejoined Yeovil on loan from Bristol City. The 29 year old has agreed a three month loan after making only sub appearances in the League for the Robins this term. He ended last season at Huish Park, scoring five times in eight games. Sheff Weds chairman Howard Wilkinson believes the club would be a better target for investors if it went into Administration as they could cut the debts drastically.

Port Vale forward Lewis Haldane is still three weeks away from resuming training after an insect bite in pre-season saw him end up in hospital. He lost three stone in two weeks and needed to be put on a drip. Torquay are expected to finalise the departure of former chief executive Colin Lee this week. The former Wolves boss has been on gardening leave since May, with his replacement joining the board this week.

Chester played their first home game of the season on Wednesday night, with 2,734 filling the Deva Stadium to see them beat Trafford 6-0. They had to postpone earlier home matches as the stadium was not ready. One-time FA Cup opponents Atherstone have told their players they will no longer be paid as the club has no money for wages. The Midlands side has gone bust twice before in 1979 and 2003.

Torquay's Paul Buckle has been named Manager of the Month for August, with Adam Le Fondre picking up the player award. Gillingham are trialling French winger Bruce Inkango, who has recently been playing in the French amateur leagues. Port Vale have offered midfielder Gary Roberts a contract extension until the end of the season. His current deal runs out at the end of the year.
