Mansfield Town have been put up for sale, just two years after they were bought out by a trio of local businessmen.
They replaced unpopular chairman Keith Haslam in the summer of 2008, but the club had already been relegated to the Conference and only had three sides of their ageing Field Mill home operational.
One of the trio, then chairman Andy Perry, quit in July citing work commitments only for a later statement to reveal Perry's refusal to plough more money into the side. It is rumoured that the club are operating on a break-even figure of 3,000 even after slashing their player budget for this season.
They have struggled to average 2,000 home fans so far this season and are understood to be losing thousands of pounds a week. Despite the on-field cuts the Stags are currently third in the Conference table.
