The Bulls travel to the new b2net Stadium on Saturday to face Chesterfield in League Two.
The Bulls ended their Saltergate visits with a 2-1 win in March, with Jake Jervis and Marc Pugh providing the Bulls goals. Overall the Spiteites have the edge with 15 wins to 11, with the last of two draws coming in 1983. The first draw was the first meeting between the sides at Saltergate in 1973, while the Bulls travel on Saturday with a record of three straight wins against the hosts to defend.
The Spireites missed out on the play-offs by two points last season, and will be looking to secure at least a spot in the end of season lottery this term. Boss John Sheridan has had little more than tinkering money to bolster his squad for the new season with Craig Davies the highest profile of half a dozen new recruits that have good experience at this level. Davies will miss Saturday's game after being sent off on the opening day, with new arrival Dean Morgan expected to feature in some part. They have a similar record to the Bulls this term, with four points from their opening two matches and a Carling Cup exit at the first hurdle.
The Bulls go to Derbyshire after something of a flat home performance against Gillingham. They will be pleased with two clean sheets, but the debate over whether Joe Colbeck should play in midfield or up front continues. He scored twice in his debut, up front, at Neath but placing him in the midfield three seems to be leaving the whole trio uncomfortable. It may be a case of grinning and bearing it as Colbeck beds into the system after coming into the side so late in pre-season, even if Simon Davey admits the position in not part of his usual repertoire.
Chesterfield vs Hereford United, b2net Stadium, Saturday 21st August, 3.00pm.
