News Round Up

Aldershot have signed keeper Ross Kitteridge on a short term deal as injury cover. The former Reading trainee was released by Basingstoke in the summer. A board meeting at the weekend is hoped to finalise the protracted takeover at Accrington. The deal for Eric Whalley to sell the club to Dave O'Neill has been on the table for 18 months but there is doubt over the sums owed to Whalley in loans made to the club.

Port Vale chairman Bill Bratt says the club will have lost around £400,000 last season when their accounts are finalised. He has denied claims by potential investor Mike Newton that the club will enter Administration without financial support. Luton will escape punishment for the violence that marred their play-off loss to York. 37 people were arrested over the scenes and more are being sought. York say they are astounded by the FA's decision, calling it 'unjust'.

Crawley's spending continues with the imminent capture of a £100,000 central defender from another Conference club. Their local press say they paid Bradford £50,000 for winger Scott Neilson. Hartlepool manager Chris Turner has quit the club after two years in charge. He has been Director of Sport at the club since 2006, and took 'temporary' charge of the first team in 2008. The Pools drew their first two games of the season, but Turner's transfer dealing have been severely limited during the summer.

Rotherham have confirmed they have made a bid for Tranmere striker Ian Thomas-Moore after two weeks of speculation. Tranmere have responded by offering the player a new contract. Macclesfield midfielder Richard Butcher will miss a month with knee ligament damage. Stockport boss Paul Simpson says his budget is spent and there are unlikely to be any more signings. Of his 22 man squad eight are largely untried former youth teamers, two are on loan, and one is non-contract.
