Malsom talks about joining Hereford

Sam Malsom has given a long interview to Les Rosbifs. Towards the end he reveals how he came to join Hereford United.

"I came back to England from Sweden during the summer break, met up with my agent and my dad and we had a good talk," said Malsom.

"We decided to cancel the remaining months of my contract with Motala because we didn’t feel it was the place to progress my career. My agent knows the manager of Hereford United (Simon Davey) and he invited me into pre-season training. I worked hard, did well and was positive while I was on trial and Simon offered me a one year deal.

"As soon as Simon offered me the deal I had no hesitation about signing. Although I’ve enjoyed my time playing abroad my main aim was always to get back playing professionally in England. I feel I’ve done well and worked hard so far, but I know that I’ve got to work even harder to make a success out of Hereford United and I’m determined to get in the starting line up and score goals.

"The training at Hereford is probably the best coaching I have had. Simon Davey and his assistant Andy Fensome have covered all aspects of fitness in pre-season training, and he’s got the squad very fit. All the training drills have been fun but also intense and challenging, which is what you want as a player. So overall I’ve been really impressed.

"My main ambition is to keep working hard in training and hopefully prove to the gaffer that I’m good enough to hold down a starting place. Hopefully I can score a few goals along the way and help Hereford United win football matches. We have a small squad of 21 players so I will just stay patient, keep training hard and be ready when Simon calls upon me."
