O'Neil Thompson, born 11th August 1983, is a central defender or defensive midfielder, who was born in Kingston, Jamaica. He started his career with Boys' Town in 2003 but left the Jamaican team in 2007, to move to Norway and Notodden FK. Thompson made 59 appearences for the Norwegian outfit, scoring twice and made a strong impression in front of new Bulls' boss Simon Davey, who gave him a trial at Barnsley.
However, he only made one appearence for the Tykes and was loaned out to Burton Albion in January 2010. He made two appearences at the Pirelli Stadium. He was set to join Davey at Darlington in May 2010, but that transfer failed to go through as Davey joined United. The loan signing to Hereford had been rumoured for a couple of weeks, and was confirmed on July 2nd 2010.
Thompson is also a full international for Jamaica, having made 21 appearences, scoring once. He made his debut in 2006 against the USA; Thomspon also played in the 2009 Gold Cup.
