Torquay are still trying to finalise a six month loan deal for striker Martin Gritton. The current Chesterfield player has played in two pre-season friendlies for the Gulls. Bradford boss Peter Taylor says he will make a decision on ex-Bull Lee Morris 'pretty quickly' after he scored twice at the weekend.

Gillingham will offer former Ebbsfleet keeper Lance Cronin a contract. The 24 year old spent four years with the Fleet, earning England C honours, after coming through the ranks at Crystal Palace. Macclesfield striker John Rooney will not be offered a contract by Huddersfield after a trial spell. Lincoln are claimed to be on the verge of signing veteran defender Jamie Clapham following his release from Notts County.

Another non-league footballer has been charged with betting on two games. Marine player Jonathan Goulding spent £13 betting on two Conf North games while a Leigh RMI player in 2008. Burton have announced a new shirt sponsorship deal worth around £100,000 over two seasons, while Stevenage have also announced a new two year deal with a web hosting company.

Port Vale have signed defender Richie Sutton on a deal until January. Accrington expect to get special League dispensation for a second successive season to operate their grond capacity below the 5,000 required by the FL after their £1.2million ground redevelopment hit the buffers due to Government cutbacks. The capacity of the Crown Ground will be around 4,600 this term.

Southend have signed former Salisbury defender Sean Clohessey on pre-contract pending the lifting of their transfer embargo. He is the eighth pre-contract signing made by Paul Sturrock.
