The Bulls continue their pre-season matches with a visit to AFC Telford's New Bucks Head Stadium on Tuesday evening. Kick off is scheduled for 7.30 pm. Admission prices are £8 for adults and £5 for concessions.
The history of Telford goes back to 1872 when the Wellington Parish Institute made their initial plans to run a football team. By 1879, the "PCI" had changed their name to Wellington Town and staked their claim as the top Shropshire side by winning The Shropshire Senior Cup in 1881. The Club progressed to The Birmingham League and later joined the Southern League where they became regular visitors to Edgar Street.
The Club changed its name to Telford United in 1969 following the designation of Telford as a new town. The turn of the millennium saw start of the building project for the New Bucks Head stadium but this was eventually to see The Club fall into financial difficulties when the Chairman's business empire collapsed leaving the Club facing liquidation. A supporters' trust was created and became to sole owners of a new club, AFC Telford United that started life in the Unibond Northern Premier League.
AFC Telford currently compete in the Blue Square Conference North where they finished in the top half of the table in 09/10. They are managed by former Sheffield Wednesday and England player Andy Sinton.
