Preview: Leyton Orient vs Bulls

The Bulls travel to London to face Leyton Orient on Tuesday for an early kick-off Johnstones Paint Trophy match.

The two sides have met as recently as last season in League action, but have been paired only once before in the various guises of the Associate Members Cup. Back in the 1985/6 season the Bulls went to Brisbane Road and won 2-1 after extra time. Last season the home sides won each encounter 2-1, with February's win at Edgar Street seeing ex-Bull Tamika Mkandawire score against the Bulls as a consolation to strikes from Febian Brandy and Steve Guinan.

Leyton Orient are currently two points clear of the League One drop zone, winning just four League matches this term. They beat fellow strugglers Brighton 1-0 in the previous round, a game veteran top scorer Scott McGleish was excused duty from. His five goals this season are expected to again be rested tomorrow night, while Mkandawire - second top scorere with three - missed the weekend match with a cut and may also be kept away in favour of more important League matters. McGleish's absence is likely to mean a start for Romanian striker Adrian Patuela. He is yet to score a League goal since his summer move from Lincoln, but he a regular starter in Cup matches and has two goals in four starts in knockout action.

The Bulls will face the second of three League One sides in Cup competition this season at Brisbane Road, after already despatching Charlton out of the Carling Cup and with the future meeting of Colchester in the FA Cup. From February's match in the League between the two sides the Bulls have seen thirteen of the sixteen players in the matchday squad depart the club. Only the injured Sam Gwynne and current benchwarmers Richard Rose and Matt Done remain. With Mathieu Manset, whose debut in the previous round against Aldershot changed the game, suspended the forward line may see a recall for Leon Constantine or a move up front for Jonny Godsmark with Mark Marshall allowed to play in the JPT.

Leyton Orient vs Hereford United, Brisbane Road, Tuesday 10th November, 7.00pm.
