Trollope on Willo's return to Edgar Street

Bristol Rovers manager Paul Trollope has spoken at length about the return of Andy Williams to Hereford United for the rest of the season. Willo trained with Rovers yesterday then had a meeting with Trallope.

"Andy Williams has returned to Hereford," Trollope told the official Rovers site.

"We welcomed him back to training yesterday morning and at the time it was looking as though he would be in the squad to travel to Crewe.

"I spoke to him at length about him making an impact on his return but things change quickly in football and Hereford came back and expressed a wish to take him on loan until the end of the season, which we felt was best not only for the club but for Andy as well.

"We have a set of strikers in Rickie Lambert, Jo Kuffour and Darryl Duffy, who are strong at the moment and we also have a couple of younger players who have been in and around the first team squad and I think the games that Andy has played for Hereford have benefited him.

"He's probably been a little bit disappointed with his goals return, but he's played regularly and started most of the games and we felt it was more beneficial for his development to continue that loan until the end of the season.

"By then he will, hopefully, have played another twenty games or so and, hopefully, scored some goals and then come back to us in pre season to prepare for next season.

"He will still have another year to run on his contract and will be another year older and will have the benefit of a full season in League One behind him and he is still very much our player.

"We feel that he has a future here. He's a player we chased for a long time and he still has all the attributes we knew he had and he has got a future at the club and we are hoping that this continuation of his loan aids his progress to benefit him when he's with us again next season."
