Walsall are not the only club having to watch their finances at present (see previous article), Stockport are reported to be cash-strapped by their local newspaper. Recent speculation suggests they may need to sell some players to balance the books.
"The situation is very much ‘sit and wait’ at present," said manager Jim Gannon.
"But people are aware of our situation at the club, and they’re aware of the quality of our players.
"We are expecting offers, but I’m sure it’s going to go right down to the actual transfer deadline.
"We’re waiting for a few situations to materialise.
"There are lots of phone calls going on between myself, other managers and agents, and between our chairman and other chairmen, but at the moment we’ve only had one firm offer and the player involved turned that move down.
"We’ll see what happens over the next week or so, but for now the players are very much focused on Saturday’s game at Oldham."
Hereford United visit Stockport in ten days time.
