Preview: Scunthorpe vs Bulls

The Bulls travel to Glanford Park for the first time in twelve years on Saturday, and the weather may even let them play a game of football there.

With the freezing temperatures already putting the game at risk the Bulls will hope that, if the match goes ahead, it will be something different to their last visit when they were handed a 5-1 mauling in January 1997. Since then the two sides have met twice at Edgar Street in the Football League Trophy, and September's League meeting, with the Bulls winning both Trophy games.

The Irons were cautious following their relegation from the Championship, and were regarded as nothing more than mid-table filler pre-season. With some bloke called Hooper up front they've averaged two goals a game at home, but they've conceded only six less than the Bulls at the back otherwise they'd probably be running away with the League by now.

The Bulls loss to Scunthorpe in September marked Nick Chadwick's only goal for the Bulls so far. Eleven goalless games since from the former Everton trainee have not impressed the locals, and most expect him to be a victim of the January window. The Bulls faithful still await the striker signing promised when the chase was on for Mr Hooper six months ago, and they know time is running out.

Scunthorpe United vs Hereford United, Glanford Park, Saturday 10th January, 3.00pm.
