8% of January Transfers are 'Successful'

With the January Transfer Window fully open former England manager Graham Taylor has suggested that just 8% of transfer in this particular window are 'successful'.

"January is an agents paradise. The deals are being set up, the deals are being done," Taylor told BBC Sport.

"People think that you are going to make a transfer that is going to change the whole fortune of your club but if people look, and I've been part of a group of people who have looked, at what can be termed a successful transfer in January is as low as 8%."

Taylor deems a successful transfer as for example how many games a player might play provided he is not injured, if he's a goalscorer how many goals does he score, what is his performance like, does the team move out of fighting relegation to being clear.

"The demand to get it by the public, by the media, who they are going to buy, what they are going to do, puts great pressure on the football manager and the football clubs."

Let's hope that Hereford United's manager Graham Turner will have much more than 8% success with his transfer dealing.
