Richard Prime's Favourite Hereford Memory

Richard Prime, sports editor of the Hereford Times, has given an interview to footballfancast.com

First he was asked about Hereford United's season so far.

"It's been a little bit of a disappointment so far. Naturally after the promotion last season everybody hoped that they were going to kick on and hopefully establish themselves in this division. So it's been hard going particularily away from home."

After talking about Hereford United's problems with injuries to loan players Prime was asked how long he had been working for the Hereford Times.

"I've been with the Hereford Times for fourteen years," said Prime.

Next he was asked what was his favourite memory following Hereford United.

"If you go back to the time when I was just a fan I saw the famous game when Ronnie Radford scored the goal which is trotted out every time the FA Cup third round comes around but during the time that I've been writing about Hereford United the best day was the play-off final at Leicester City when Hereford beat Halifax 3-2, gained promotion back to the football league after nine years in the Conference.

"It was a terrific day, great game of football, wonderful atmosphere, ten thousand Hereford fans on the road to Leicester. Very few times have ten thousand Hereford fans been gathered together in the same place before or since. So that was a terrific day.

"Also a great day at Brentford last season when promotion to League One was clinched. That's the first time Hereford have been at this level for thirty years. That was a great day out."
