News Round Up

The Bulls have been linked to Macclesfield defender Matthew Flynn - by his agent. The 19 year old is out of contract with the Silkmen in the summer after a dozen appearances for the club since turning pro, the last of which saw him sent off. The agent claims the player is also being watched by Crewe and Stockport in a move that seems to be designed to get the player a new contract.

One of Chester's bidders has walked away. Worldwide Sports claims their offer 'was never taken seriously'. Spokesman David Jones was a former Chester reserve player in the '80's. John Batchelor remains an interested bidder, and was in the Directors Box for Saturday's win over Notts County. He says he will sue the FA and Football League to change the name of the club, describing the Cheshire FA as 'teaboys'.

Claims that Crewe are set to appoint Steve Cotterill as their new manager are wide of the mark, with Cotterill telling the press that he will only take a job at Championship level or higher. The Crewe board have identified six people they want to interview, but have refused to name them. One possible candidate, former Carlisle boss John Ward, has agreed a financial settlement with the Cumbrians leaving him free to take another job.

Peterboro striker Craig Mackail-Smith will not be the subject of a £4million bid from Birmingham as the Blues don't have the money to spend. Posh striker Scott Rendell will remain their player after Cambridge admitted they couldn't afford the asking price, but they want to extend his loan spell. Geoff Horsfield is training with Lincoln city after nine weeks out following cancer treatment. He worked with manager Peter Jackson at Halifax.
