Hereford Players in Police Investigation

West Mercia Police have confirmed they are looking into reports of an incident concerning several Hereford United players which may have taken place last Thursday evening in Hereford.

Their response comes after both the Hereford Times and BBC Hereford and Worcester contacted the police for details.

Police in Hereford have confirmed that they are investigating an incident at the Hop Pole Public House in Commercial Road, Hereford which occurred around 8.45pm on Thursday 27th November 2008.

The incident, which incorporates an allegation of assault, involved some members of the Hereford United football team. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident. Police are currently studying CCTV footage from the licensed premises in an effort to determine exactly what happened, and enquiries are continuing.

Any action that licensees of the city's pubs and clubs may be proposing to take at their next HAND Scheme meeting this Thursday remains independent of the Police Service.
