When away supporters come to Edgar Street they are usually housed in the Len Weston Stand, which is exactly the same as for home supporters. They can also park their cars/coaches close by.
Yesterday at Leyton Orient, if in a car, you were very lucky to find a parking place close to the ground. When asked very disinterested police in a transit van said anywhere really. However most of the parking was by voucher, which only lasted for two hours, even if a spot was available.
And although coaches were able to drop their passengers at the ground, they were not allowed to pick them up at the ground. Instead fans were made to walk to a coach park around fifteen minutes away.
Indeed when the lady tannoy announcer gave out the news about fans having to walk back to their coaches, she simply said the coaches were parked at Spitalfields.
"Where the ....ing hell is that?" was the instant response from the Hereford faithfull.
At the ground itself Hereford United fans were housed in the oldest part of the stadium with its wooden seats. Why they couldn't have been allocated one end is unknown but it can't have been for space reasons. The ground was only half full.
The policy of giving away fans the 'worst' area of a stadium and charging the same price as elsewhere is debatable.
On the plus side the pitch looked in good condition and the 'newer' stands complimented each other. The high vantage point for the press must have given them an excellent view.
The stewards were friendly and understanding. Hereford supporters who stood up for much of the game were not challenged. Live and let live as long as no-one was a nuisance seemed to be their policy.
