The Bulls begin their first League One campaign in 31 years with a trip to the Matchroom Stadium on Saturday.
It will be the first meeting of the two sides in 11 years, with an April 1997 meeting seeing the doomed Bulls downed 2-1 at the then Brisbane Road. Tony Agana scored for the Bulls, with the Orient goals coming from former Exeter boss Alex Inglethorpe and current Orient boss Martin Ling.
Orient have made a habit of lifting Central Defenders out of the Bulls dressing room - if you can call two in ten years a habit. Current O's assistant boss Dean Smith left for a tribunal set bargain fee, while Tamika Mkandawire ended his association with the Bulls last summer. Veteran Danny Granville is the pick of five new signings, but eleven have departed during the summer including current Bulls trialist Sam Oji.
Fans of the other 23 League One sides have given us so little chance of survival our first two signings should have been Snowball and Hell. Unfortunately work permits for lumps of ice are difficult to obtain so we've had to make do with bringing Toumani Diagouraga to the club on a permanent basis. Oh well. Last season ten of the eleven to start the final friendly started the first League match. This season four of those to start the final friendly weren't even contracted so the opening XI is anyone's guess.
Leyton Orient vs Hereford United, Matchroom Stadium, Saturday 9th August, 3.00pm.
