Preview: Bristol Rovers vs Bulls

The Bulls travel to the Memorial Ground on Saturday to take on Bristol Rovers in League One.

The Bulls only previous visits to the stadium were not happy ones, losing in both the FA Cup and League Two fixtures during the 2006/7 season. Richard Walker, now punted out on loan to Shrewsbury, inflicted the damage on both occasions scoring all three goals during those games while Rob Purdie got the Bulls' only effort from the penalty spot. That was, however, the Pirates' only League win over the Bulls, with four of the six meetings being drawn.

The Pirates opening to their campaign hasn't been much better than the Bulls. A single goal opening day defeat was followed - like the Bulls - by a single goal defeat away to a Championship side. Only Saturday's 1-1 draw with Brighton, thanks to a late penalty, give them a slight edge. New signing Daryl Duffy is the only one of their strike force yet to score this season with the £400,000 spent on the trio producing only the same amount as the free transfer Bulls.

The Bulls quest for their first point of the season goes West with the fans still wanting new faces. While other League One sides have been active - if only vocally - over the past week, Bulls boss Graham Turner has kept radio silence on his transfer moves. Depending on who you believe a right winger and striker are the main requirements, and frustration over a lack of movement on both fronts is rapidly increasing.

Bristol Rovers vs Hereford United, Memorial Ground, Saturday 23rd August, 3.00pm.
