It's exactly thirty years ago today that Hereford United travelled to Aston Villa for a League Cup game.
It was a case of the newest League team against one of the oldest.
The Bulls had just started life back in the League with a defeat at Colchester and to be drawn against Villa was always going to be a real challenge.
And so it was, as they were defeated 4-1.
However interest in the League Cup was greater in those days as 32,314 watched the game.
Compare that to the 3094 that watched the Cup game at Crystal Palace last Tuesday.
