The final event of a long weekend for Hereford supporters was the Mayor's Charity Football Match between the Hereford United Veterans and the West Bromwich Veterans.
The game took place yesterday at the Westfields Allpay Stadium and was watched by a crowd said to be about 400. The proceeds went towards the Mayor’s charity, the Alzheimer’s Society.
Hereford won the game 3-1 with goals from Neil Grayson (twice) and Alex Sykes. Somehow, considering he had rushed to the game from the Mayor's reception for Hereford United, John Trewick scored for the Baggies from the penalty spot.
