Halifax Town have been thrown out of the Conference following a meeting of Conference chiefs today.
The league's General Manager told the Halifax Courier: "We feel that Halifax do not qualify. There will be correspondence to the club hopefully today or tomorrow," adding that they had heard nothing from the club since Friday's failed creditors meetings.
The decision means the reformed club will start next season no higher than the fourth level of the non-league pyramid, the Unibond First Division, and could end up a level lower in the Northern Counties East League.
Altrincham are expected to keep their place in the Conference despite finishing in the relegation zone.
