Steve Evans, the 6ft Wrexham defender, is pondering whether to stay at the Racecourse after manager Brian Little offered him a reduced contract.
Evans, who like team-mate Matty Done, played in Wrexham's last game at Edgar Street, is a Welsh International.
"We've given him an indication that we'd like him to stay, but the reason for doing it this way is he's currently in the Wales squad on most occasions and there's a strong chance someone in the Football League would be prepared to finance a bigger deal than we'd be able to offer him," said Little.
As far as is known he has not been linked with Hereford United.
