It's not been a good week for Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson. First he's made manager of the month, secondly he's in court over problems with his ex-wife, thirdly his side is defeated by Stockport County this afternoon and fourthly his team now has to come to Edgar Street next Saturday.
"It’s a massive disappointment," said Ferguson as reported by the Daily Telegraph, "and the champagne remains very definitely on ice. Now we’ll have to get it done and dusted next Saturday (away to third-placed Hereford). I knew teams would drop points in the final stretch and I just hoped it wouldn’t be us.
"I’ve said all along that I want to go up as champions and it’s made it more frustrating that MK Dons have drawn and we could have closed the gap." The rare defeat also stopped his team breaking a 47-year club record for unbeaten games.
"One defeat in 18 is not bad but it’s still not good enough," Ferguson insisted, with more than a hint of his father’s voice. "We want to get out of this league and then out of the next one. That’s a minimum. The players have got to keep driving themselves forward in each and every game."
