Bournemouth's announced takeover will not take place after the accepted bidders failed to deposit funds in time.
The consortium was already at war with former frontman Marc Jackson over he running of the club, and now appear to have walked away from the deal. Administrator Gerald Krasner is expected to turn back to the declined bid by current Chairman Jeff Mostyn, but was keen to note that urgency was essential in an interview with BBC Radio: "If there's no bid on the horizon, the club should start worrying about folding at the end of this week."
Meanwhile, one of the interested parties in Rotherham has bought a stake in Scottish side Livingston. The McMullen Group have agreed a £2million deal for a 50% stake in the club. The Administrator at Millmoor has now put out an open plea for donations to keep the club running.
Mansfield's saviour could be former Aldershot chairman Colin Hancock, but not until the end of the season. Owner Keith Haslam has put a stop to all negotiations until their crucial relegation battle is over one way or another.
