After their eighth home defeat in nine games, manager Billy Dearden has left Mansfield 'by mutual consent'.
Former York boss Billy McEwan, a former Stags player, is already at the head of a shortlist to replace him with the Stags expecting to name the new boss before Tuesday's match with the Bulls. Gary Peters and ex-Notts County man Steve Thompson have also been named as candidates by the local paper.
During 14 months in charge Dearden won just 18 of 64 games after being installed in December 2006. The club have not won a home game since Boxing Day when they surprised Peterboro 2-0.
He is the ninth managerial candidate of the League Two season, with all the clubs to change their manager in the bottom half of the table. Only Bradford boss Stuart McCall, a summer arrival, and the Conference winning managers of Accrington, Barnet, and Dagenham remain with their clubs in the bottom half of the table.
