Graham Turner has joined many other managers and commentators in suggesting that Sam Allardyce wasn't given long enough at Newcastle to turn form around.
The Hereford United manager is, after Sir Alex Ferguson of Manchester United, the longest serving manager in professional football in the UK.
"It's a club that hasn't won anything for years," Turner told BBC Hereford & Worcester. "They've got to have some stability.
"To bring in someone of the reputation and calibre of Sam Allardyce and then give him five months is ludicrous."
Today's Independent also mentions the length of time Turner has been in charge at Edgar Street and is also chairman of Hereford United.
It suggests that owner/chairman Mike Ashby hasn't given Allardyne a chance.
When, like Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley, you have a personal fortune approaching £2bn, and an annual £30m minimum in television money spilling into club coffers, paying off Sam Allardyce and his band of merry men, even to the tune of £4m, makes little impact.
