From BBC to the Bees for Dyke

The chairman of Brentford Football Club, who visit Edgar Street this afternoon, is former BBC boss Greg Dyke.

Dyke was the director general of the BBC for four years until he resigned reportedly because of criticism over the corporations reporting of the Hutton enquiry.

He is also remembered in television circles for introducing Roland Rat, pictured, to TV-AM in in 1980's.

Dyke has been a supporter of Brentford Football Club for many years and was appointed as non-executive Chairman of the club on January 20, 2006, following the takeover by the Supporters Trust, Bees United.

Current manager Terry Butcher is the fourth to serve under Dyke's chairmanship. Marin Allen was in charge when Dyke was appointed. Then came Leroy Rosenior and Scott Fitzgerald.

But there has been little success with Dyke at the helm. The Bees were relegated to League Two last April and, before today's match, were in 16th position.
