Preview: Morecambe vs Bulls

The Bulls travel to Morecambe on Saturday for the first time since conquering the Shrimps in the Conference play-offs.

That day in May 2006, the sides drew 1-1 with the Bulls winning the return leg at Edgar Street. Just two of that Bulls side remain, while six of the Morecambe side featured last Saturday, and Craig Stanley switched allegiances shortly after.

Overall, a draw has been the most likely result with ten of 22 meetings ending up in stalemate with six wins each. The Bulls have only won once at Christie Park, a 5-1 drubbing on their first Conference visit in 1997. Andy Milner, a loan signing from Chester, scored a hat-trick in that game and secured a permanent £8,000 move - to Morecambe.

Morecambe's rise into the league in the summer was a surprise in many circles, but the club have adapted well so far collecting the same total of eight points as the Bulls. Former Southport midfielder Carl Baker is top scorer with three goals in the six matches so far, and the club dumped near rivals Preston out of the Carling Cup.

The Bulls will be looking for a third straight away win after beating Barnet and Wrexham on the road. A midweek reserve outing is unlikely to shake up Graham Turner's plans for the match with his only real dilemma being who to play up front after tinkering with the front two throughout the season so far.

Morecambe vs Hereford United, Christie Park, 3pm, Saturday 15th September.
